Shri Ramakant Keshav alias Balasahab Deshpande was born on 26 December 1913 in Amravati. He played an active role in the Quit India Movement in 1942 and was imprisoned for six months by the British government.

After the untimely death of Raja Dev Sharan Singh of Jashpur, his son Vijay Bhushan Singh was crowned at the age of 5. He actively contributed to tribal welfare and community development.
